Key Outcomes

  • Communication of climate information and data to the global community plays a key role in raising public awareness and ultimately fighting the climate crisis. In parallel, transparency arrangements are key to ensuring accountability of all countries in meeting their commitments under the Convention and the Paris Agreement.
  • Collaboration between UNFCCC and media following the process should be strengthened, with a view to providing more accessible and reliable information to the global audience and, specifically, to open up the transparency process to much wider audiences.
  • The development of simplified reports and guides for media and press, as well as an enhanced effort from the UNFCCC to improve accessibility of available information, would significantly help journalists to foster their understanding of the dynamics of technical matters such as transparency.
